How to Really Survive High School

Chances are that if you're reading this article, you're probably someone who's just starting high school or a new kid who's transferring to a new high school after bad experiences at your old high school. If you've read this far already, then you're already taking the first step to success, and by success I mean that you won't be constantly harassed and abused by your fellow peers at your new high school. This article will teach you how to really survive high school, unlike the majority of other articles found on the internet written by 35 year olds who have absolutely no idea on what the hell they're talking about, and think that high school today is just like how it was 30-40 years ago, however this may the case if you're parents can afford to send you to a ,000 per year fancy private school, but it is not at all the case if you're going to your nearest state school, and if that is the case then please read on, if not please leave.

Here are a few basic rules of survival when it comes to high school:

Rule 1# Assume everyone hates you the very second you step foot into the school grounds. Some may not hate you on sight; however they probably haven't noticed you yet. Chances are the majority of them will indeed hate your guts even though they've never met you. This rule includes teachers, especially if you go to a big school.

Rule2# Talk normally. By this I don't mean talk like a normal adult, I mean talk like your everyday average 'high school student' because talking like you have something between your ears will either get you bashed or made into the newest laughing stock of the whole school. So go find yourself a dictionary and add words like 'bitch' and 'cunt' into your vocabulary.

Rule3# Never make eye contact. If you want to even remotely enjoy your lunch breaks, don't ever make eye contact with anyone within the 2 week starting period of the your new school, because the average 15-17 year old kid will think it's a sign of toughness and will make sure to destroy any sign of it that you may have within you and will succeed, especially if there's 7 more of them nearby.

Rule4# Make strong connections. Chances are you're probably not that strong or buff, so you won't be that intimidating to other people, however if you want to live a remotely comfortable life at your new school befriend the tough kids in your class while in class time because they probably will not talk to you outside of class. If all goes well and they introduce you to their friends, always be nice and never think twice because this is their way of adopting you into their group (AKA the safe zone).

Rule5# Be nice to everyone, but friendly to a selected few.  This rule is simple, always be nice to everyone, but friendly to only people who you trust or are your allies. You do not want to get on anyone's bad side especially if they're the captain of the school's football squad.

Rule6# Always make a donation when asked. No, I'm not talking about the school's charity foundation I'm talking about when a complete stranger asks for a dollar, you cheerfully give him a dollar, because by doing this you won't get on his/her bad side and you may just make another 'strong connection'. Always carry a spare dollar; you never know when it may be useful.

Rule7# Stay away from the library. Whatever you do, don't hang around the library because you may not know it yet, but the library is the local hunting grounds for bullies to find their prey. If you become their prey, good luck trying to shake them off, because they stick like glue, and the longer they're on you're the tail, the more un-popular you become with your peers.

Rule8# Don't hang around with the wrong types. Sure it's good to be friends with them, but it doesn't mean you have to hang around them because while they can protect you, they can also drag you down to their level.

Rule9# Never be yourself. There is no such thing as individuality in high school. Get used to it.

Rule10# Work hard, but don't get caught. That's right, keep your dirty little secret to yourself if you want to keep on top of all your work and get high scores so one day you can escape this prison that they call high school. Hide everything that starts with the letter 'A', because most kids are under the impression that A stands for Asshole.

Rule11# Don't do drugs. All they will do is turn you into a sped. Period.

Rule12# Never question teachers. Unless you have a death wish, never question a teacher, no matter how incorrect they may be. Just keep in mind that high school is not a democracy, it's a dictatorship.

Congratulations, if you've read this far it means that you're on your way to actually surviving this dreadful time period of your life. I really do hope that you found this article very insightful, and that you won't try to become an individual (within the school grounds of course). Sayonara folks!
